Palio Siena

Tuscan city of Siena comes to life again her ancient traditions during the famous Palio of Siena that is an equestrian competition where two times a year the contrade (district) face toward themselves: the 2nd of July in honour of Madonna di Provenzano and the 16th of August in honour of Madonna Assunta.
The first document about the Palio of Siena goes back up at 1169 and it treats the arrangament of the scenery for this show: Piazza del Campo in Siena.
In fact historically it’s the principal square of the tuscan city, it’s famous for its particular and original shell’s shape that it makes more interesting the carriera. During the Palio it’s curious know that in the Palio square (Campo Square) taken off the external ring made in serena stone where horses run, the internal arrives to contain 70000 watcher that is the 130% of whole Siena’s people!
